Hi my name is Pauline, my husband and I live in Dorset UK
and we have a Maltese called 'JOSH' he is 5 years old and is giving us cause for concern at the moment.

He is getting, from time to time a mild shivering which involves the whole body,
not that it seems to worry him, stillwagging the tail.

The vet puts it down to visiting him but I don't think so. So if any of you good folk know anything about this please let us know.

My regards

Pauline & Josh

is it a shivering like one would do if scared..it could be a sign of pain, nerves, or excitement..its really heard to say. if it is more of a shaking...could be mile seizures. without seeing the shivering my self its hard to make a guess. u wouldnt happen to have a video of it would u?

Welcome to SM by the way!

I have a question about shivering myself... is it true that a maltese can get cold and shiver quite easily? Kodie shivers more than my last dog ever did... he wasnt a maltese.

Right before my first Maltese, Rosebud, was diagnosed with low thyroid, she would shiver from time to time.....

I also think you should mention the White Dog Shaker Syndrome for sure to your vet. I am also surprised he didn't mention it. I know someone whose dog has it. The vet gave her cortisone for a while and I believe she is doing really well now....

One of the genetic diseases Maltese can inherit is White Shaker Dog Syndrome. I'm surprised your vet didn't suspect that from what you describe.
