I bought the Foster and Smith  Distate Triple Strength. Works unless they are really determined. One of mine was, the only thing that works with him is to keep him well fed. Even then he will sometimes have a taste.

My problem is nikki is always hungry! The girl can really put it away. She will eat her food and Lexi's if I let her. LOL! Hopefully the home cooked meals will help fill her up.

Yes, I have to make sure Jonas has enough to eat, he can't be late on a meal or he finds his own. My little starvling girl was so skinny I am sure she ate her own poop to survive. The Distate worked fine on her, she would rather not have poop. Don't know why Jonas likes poo so much, he was born and raised in the lap of luxury.

We are fortunate in that Scooby has never done that, but then we don't give him the opportunity as we pick up immediately after he has been potty. I know this isn't always possible for the working moms so I guess finding the remedy in food or addatives is the only way. I often wonder why dogs do this, I have heard that it is a lack in enzymes that can cause it. I know when Scooby was little he used to seek out the rabbits poop in the yard, but that all stopped when we put the fence up.

Oh, I do pick up the poop as soon as I see her go. Most of the time that is enough but every so often she will go in the house with out me knowing (not one of the scheduled times she normally goes). Those are the times she gets to it before me and gets to eat some.

Yes that would make it hard to catch, I often wonder why they have to turn around and sniff their poop, Scooby does that, but he has never shown any interest in eating it, for that I am very grateful.

I have tried Deter........but not the Solid Gold SEP.

My vet told me to feed them pet tabs Vitamins each day as well, becuse (yuk ...
)when the poop starts to break-down, it becomes less....ummmm.....attractive to them. ***shaking my head wondering why it was ever attractive in the first place.****

It has helped them alot. I pick up after them as much as possible too. And I try to watch them when they are in the yard. If I see them going for it, I nip it in the bud.

Ok, maybe I will try the pet tabs for a month or so and see how that goes. I was going to start giving those anyway.

If that doesn't work I discover KV Vet has the forbid for $1.19 a packet! For that same packet my vet charges $4! What a rip off! I would buy a bunch of packets and leave them both on it for a few months. Hopefully by then she out grows it.

Deter didn't work for either of mine and worse yet, it gave them bad diarrhea.

Ok, no Deter! We definitly don't need diarrhea anymore! Had enough of that a few weeks ago.

Sounds like I will try the pet tabs for a month or so and then move on to forbid (again) if that doesn't work.

He put tabassco sauce on it and made him smell it!
It made him go crazy... but he learned his lesson. (I dunno if I recommend it.. it might be cruel)

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Solid Gold S.E.P. (Stop Eating Poop)?  The local pet food store carries it.  Nikki is still eating poop so I was thinking of giving it a try.

I tried both Deter and ForBid with Tanner, neither worked. Then I started watching him like a hawk and if he wasn't visible, I went looking for him, and usually he was in his favorite poop place, so I'd grab him and outside we would go. I guess he finally outgrew it because he's a year old now and hasn't done it for several months. Of course there was that one time we were outside and I thought he was hunched over pooping and he was hunched over eating deer poop. Thought I would die, ain't nothin' worse than deer poop.

I was told that meat tenderizer is NOT to be used for my little ones.
I was told by a Vet tech that said with small dogs, it can cause tummy probs.

Meat tenderizer is used with bee stings on humans, and I know can break down tissue
(OBVIOUSLY since it breaks down meat!), so I am afraid to use it on my babies.
I would rather go with something more natural like vitamins.

Meat tenderizer is after all just chemicals. The ones I have has salt, dextrose, MSG, papain and calcium silicate. I am NOT willing to give my dogs more salt (kidney and circulatory probs) and heaven knows what MSG does to them....and I dont' even KNOW what papain is!
