By this morning, most of the water in the street had drained away, but it left huge mounds of leaves over the storm drain which is in front of my house! Since I didn't want to get trapped again, I bagged them up--two huge leaf bags full--and I don't have a single deciduous tree in front of my house!
I hope my neighbors, who do have those kinds of trees, appreciate my work! It's a pretty neighborhood in the fall, when the colorful leaves are on the trees. I guess this is the price I pay.
The dogs really enjoy the aftermath--it brings out scents and brings down big leaves and small branches which they find fascinating. They check them out thorouchly, probably investigating which squirrels and which types of birds had been perching there before.
