In the previous post on "baby teeth," most people said their puppies get their adults teeth around 5 - 8 months. Yeager just turned 4 months old but I think he's already growing out some adult teeth? It seemed that at 3 months his teeth was bigger than they are right now :blink:. Not sure if he's growing his adult teeth early or his teeth just looks smaller in comparison to his face now.

Those sure look like adult teeth coming in. I guess like humans different patterns for teeth eruption can be seen. The "norm" is what is most frequently seen but there are outliers. Don't fret, lots ofMalts retain them and thats worse than losing early.

My son got his first teeth at 5 months old ( and I was nursing) and my daughter didn't have a tooth until she was 14 months old........I am sure variations are seen in the dog world.

The average dog starts at about 4 months. It is not unusual for little dogs to start a little later.

The tops more rounded ones are adult teeth and the bottom more jagged ones look like they are baby teeth. Shiloh's adult teeth didn't fully erupt until she was about 7 months old. Hope that helps.

Well I noticed before Nelson's front top and bottom teeth came in. His mouth must have gotten bigger for his new teeth, because they looked just like the 2nd pic...and almost overnight too it seemed. A WHOLE lot of gum, with huge gaps between all the teeth. Then after that the baby ones started falling out 1 by 1, and within a day or 2 another adult tooth was like already coming in or in.
So have you noticed empty spaces? I had been looking at Nelson's teeth daily, so I noticed changes immediately...I even helped him wiggle out some loose ones here and there when they were bothering him.

But they look like baby teeth to me, from being real pointy and small. Nelson's came in a lot bigger and rounder tips. He probably started losing his around 4.5-5 months. I'm sure its different for all dogs though.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't noticed any gaps, they're just really spaced out, and it looks like he has an underbite because his top teeth is almost non-existent. I'll start checking daily as well

It's not uncommon for pups to cut their front teeth at 3-5 months. It can happen so quickly you don't even notice until they are in.

yea I didn't even notice when he lost them(assuming that he is growing adult teeth already)!

Thats what I mean when I said gaps...like REALLY spaced out. I wish I had a picture of his because it was so funny looking. :HistericalSmiley:

They can look more spaced because the gums get swollen. Its ok.

His teeth looks so pitiful it's kind of funny hahaha
