Tilly - Too Sweet

1196 Views 16 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  Rocky's Mom
As I've been looking at all the gorgeous pictures of everyone that attended Nationals, and feeling very sad that I didn't get to go, I've been thinking about how much I miss having show dogs.

Last night Tilly (my little rescure girl) was sitting next to me, and I was giving her belly rubs, and I was thinking, "I wish that you were tiny in the 4 lbs. range and a beautiful show dog."

And then I looked into her sweet face and her adoring eyes and realized, again, how sweet she is and how much I truly love her. She is such a happy baby and is truly the sweetest little girl ever.

Size doesn't matter (she's ll lbs. now), and she certainly doesn't need to be "show quality". All she needs to be is my lovely, sweet, happy, healthy Tilly.:wub:

(I'm not excluding Lacie -- but she was outside while this was happening.)

oh Lynn! when my arms are tired of lifting my 10 pounder up and down the steps I often say the same thing :)!
We were at obedience class today. There were only three little dogs in class. Class was finished, and the dogs were off leash. My Cassie started running like the wind with two other fluffies chasing. She was so happy. This was the first time my girl really played like a dog with other doggies. It almost made me cry, and made realize what a difference I made in this girl's life. No amount of titles can match that.
I couldn't go to Nationals this year because at 14.5 years old, it would be too stressful to take Lady and too stressful to leave her. Atlanta is so close to me, I was very disappointed at first. Then I looked at Miss Lady and realized I had the most beautiful Maltese right next to me! Who needs to go look at show dogs?
I think all our fluffs are winners aren't they? Even though mine aren't show quality, they show me how special they are...
I'm glad most of mine don't weigh more than 4-6 pounds, except Sasha, she weighs 8,so when I pile on the puppies, they don't smoosh me. Amber weighs more than the other 4 put together...
I can sure tell the difference picking her up after the other fluffs.
More to love, that's what I say....
Oh, Lynn. More to love of scrumptious Tillie.
All these posts are bringing tears to my eyes. Tears of joy for how sweet it is to have the unconditional love of our fluffs and they, our unconditional love as well. I think that beats any prizes or ribbons too.
On the lighter side, my DH made me laugh yesterday when i told him about meeting Tyler's half sister Edie, a successful-show dog at Nationals, he said to me, "Tyler must be thinking. 'I could have been a contender. If only I had the balls'." :HistericalSmiley::HistericalSmiley:You know little Ty had undescended testicles. I just burst out laughing, and am so happy he isn't a show dog, or I wouldn't have him.:wub:
i understand what you are saying Lynn, Matilda's mom and dad were 4 + lbs at first I was disappointed because I thought that would be Matilda's size, Matilda weighs 9 lbs I do wish she was smaller butttttttt I love every ounce of that girl:wub: one day I will have a small fluff and can experience that side but until then I hold my Matilda and B&B and am so grateful for every moment we can share, time goes by quickly

I wouldn't even know how to begin to take care a show dog, they are stunning, I'm so happy for those who have them, I can enjoy them and dream what it must be like for them
Well, I went to Nationals and there were some of the most beautiful maltese I have ever laid eyes on...........sitting here with 3 rescues, one 7.6 lbs. and the other two at 9.8 lbs. mine are far from the standard.

Would I like to have a show dog??? Maybe some day when I am rich!:HistericalSmiley::HistericalSmiley::HistericalSmiley::HistericalSmiley: Although, having three rescues wasn't exactly the "cheap" route either! Between the three of them, I have spent over $2000 to get them up to par health wise but oh soooooo worth it. I would not trade a single one of my girls for any of the show dogs I saw this past weekend. What mine lack on the outside to standard, they have more than enough on the inside to make up for that with their beautiful personalities and loving hearts that nobody can put a price tag on!:thumbsup:

So while I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful fluffs in the show, I realize that I have what I need right here. Would the hubby agree? YOU BET!!!!!

Well you made the right decision!!! Buffy is my social butterfly and even "she" was overwhelmed with all the excitment and dogs. The hubby went with me and we had a big stroller that they all fit in so he would take them back to the room and allow them to roam around a bit and I think that helped a lot to keep their stress down. So enjoy the pictures and love on that beautiful "Lady."
What can I say about all your wonderful beautiful rescued souls but they are Total :good post - perfects

You ladies :you rock::eek:k::Flowers 2::smootch::heart:
Savannah and Breeze want to tell you been there, done that, being in the show ring and want you to know that we so enjoy our pampered, spoiled and retired life these days. So don't think it is always greener on the other side my fellow furbabies and friends, be happy  and enjoy being loved by all your great mommy's and daddy's you/we are all so lucky we have someone to love and be loved.
As they say, don't worry, be happy :chili::chili::chili:
Hugs,
Savannah, Breeze and Sparkle
Aww, Lynn.....I would have loved to take my Archie with me. I love that guy more than life itself. He's getting heavy....too heavy for his frame now and I need to start walking him more. When I got hom he wasn't speaking to me and my heart was crushed. so I took him for his very own walk....just me and Arch. He's not upset anymore, but I am. My dude isn't close to show quality, but our++ love for each other is of the highest quality ever. Not sure I could squish him under the seat of an airplane, he's 10 lbs now. I hope someday you and the girls can make a trip out here to the east coast, we can have our own dog show

That is so funny :HistericalSmiley::HistericalSmiley::HistericalSmiley:. Ty is a the best...balls or no balls.

I know what you all mean. Sweetness healed my heart when it was breaking from losing Sam. And Tessa, well she is just such a special little girl. When I've got the two of them snuggled up with me, it is overwhelming how much love is there from all of us!
The love I receive from all my babies is the most important thing even if most of them aren't standard at all or even close! It was funny yesterday my 15 year old daughter said to me "are you the dog whisperer" because every dog you bring in here just loves you and follows you.
awwh so sweet to read this <3 I LOVE rescued souls
Nothing matters more to me than looking at that little face of my pup and loving him for just being him. I wouldn't want a show dog. I'm happy with my 5lb. lover boy.
