Hey everyone, Kylee's hair is getting just long enough to put in the top knot and only have a little bit fall out the front buttt my problem is that when the hair is not in the topknot, it falls in front of her eyes and i dont think she can see. So my question for those of you who keep their dogs in topknots...do they wear the topknots all the time? if not, where does the hair go when its out of the top knot? My groomer said not to keep the top knot in all the time because after a while kylee might start balding at the site of the topknot...so i only have been putting it in for if we get company or go out...but i dont know what to do when its not in. Any help would be appreciated!!

Chelsey's here is always in a top knot as it is way to long. No problems with balding but I make sure the base of the knot is not tight. If it is not in a top knot I still tie it away from her eyes so she can see and doe not get strains in her eyes... because when hair get in my eyes ,I know it really hurts.. even my eye lashes. I gues you can try the part down the midel and use bows on the sides of the hair as well. That would still keep it out of the eyes. no pictures I have not tried it myself just a thought.

Oh I also use the latex bands in chelsey's hair it prevents breakage.

Sassy wears a top knot 24/7 and has never had any balding. Trust me, I think her hair grows hair.

Funny because even through she has been wearing a top knot forever she will still fix it herself when I am done with it. She is like an unruly child saying, "I can fix it all by myself mommy."

It just takes practice to do a top knot. Trust me they will not all come out terrific. Sassy has worn some that looked more like handles
If you leave the top knot up too long (days) it will sometimes get tangles. Or is your baby plays a lot and rubs his/her head on things. I always just take Sassy's down every day and redo it. Once you get the hang of it it will only take a couple of minutes to put it back up.

We need a smiley with a top knot.

Tucker's topknot is out more than it's in. Part of his hair is really long but the front is still not long enough to stay up. I think he likes it in his face. He looks like a Sheepdog in the face when it's down.

With it up he just seems to want it out. The groomer put a topknot in and he pulled it out in two days. He acts like he only puts up with it for Mommy's sake.

Ok guys, please bear with me. I suck doing the top knot but there is something worse... i have at least 25 bows and haven`t been able to use one because every time i try to put the bow in place it`s all wrong, upside down, looking back or twisted. I found a yorkie website with explanatory pictures on how to do the top know although when it comes to placing the bow, there is just the pic of the perfectly placed bow without any explanation on that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had no idea it took that much work.
Poor Summer has been running around with a pebbles hair do

And I take it out 5 out of 7 nights. I know how it feels to wear a pony tail and how good it felt to get it out so Summer sleeps al-natural at night
And yes she looks like the wooley mop
bad hair day and all that stuff

Theresa, it really isn't that much work once you get used to doing them. It only takes a couple of minutes. I like using the papers because it keeps the topknot so neat - no stragglers. The bands on the bows also last forever when you use papers. I have never even broken or had to replace a band and I've had some bows for years.

Wow ! I really need to look at that site again  thanks for the tips

Ok, I checked out the site and it does look pretty easy, if I can just get her to sit that long.
I'm going to try it TODAY, off to Sally's we go

ps. is the top of the knot the paper? It looks like it to me
