We went to our vet in TPLO Marketing Platform For Vet Surgeons | TPLOCity to check what's wrong with my dog. They told us that he needs to undergo a leg surgery and I have no idea what tplo at first. It was caused by obesity and has ligament rupture if I'm not mistaken. I was scared for my dog and I do not know what to expect nor what to do. Can anyone share their experience? I appreciate all those who will respond.
There have been a number of dogs that have had that surgery. Hopefully someone will reply so you can ask questions, but in the meantime, do a forum search for TPLO and you will find several accounts.
Oh I just posted an ACL post.
Is TPLO the same as ACL?
They didn't tell me Guinevere is heavy but she was 51/2lbs at 2 years then when I got her she is now 3 years and 8 lbs.
She went crazy jumping and running around my grandson and family, but he didn't even touch her. I was there..
TPLO is a surgical technique to restore the dog's ability to use the leg after a rupture of the Cranial Cruciate Ligament (which is the dog equivalent of what, in humans, is called the ACL).
My dog also had TPLO surgery when she had an ACL tear due to old age. It took months for her to heal and we had a lot of checkups. I hope your dog is fine now. Lots of love from us.
