urine concentrated with strong smell...Update post 1

I noticed on Monday that my little girl Noelle's urine is very concentrated and strong smelling. She gets plenty of water so i know she can't be dehydrated and i suspect a UTI. She has an appointment tomorrow, i couldn't get her in any sooner unfortunately because of the holiday and all of our stupid work schedules. She had a UTI last year, but her urine wasn't concentrated nor did it smell so strong. I guess my question is what else could it be?

Just got back from the vets and Noelle has a UTI and will be taking Baytril.

Oh my! Sounds like a UTI to me, though I'm new to this whole pup thing, but Aolani had a UTI and his urine was funky too. THe vet told me that if he's drinking a lot of water - more than usual that could be a sign of UTI. I'm sorry I can't provide more insight, but good luck at the vet tomorrow and keep us posted.
I don't have any experience with a UTI so I can't really give any advice. Susie and Sadie did have an incident several years back where they both just quit drinking water and their urine became very dark and concentrated. It was shortly after I switched to home cooking and the only thing I could figure was they just weren't thirsty like they were when they were eating dry kibble. I had to start adding water to their food and they haven't had an issue since. But since you said Noelle is getting plenty of water then that can't be the problem.

I'll be thinking of you and Noelle tomorrow and hope all goes well at the vet. Keep us posted.
My malt had a UTI in March and the smell of her dark urine was one of the symptoms along with frequently urinating with only a little bit of output. They also found struvite crystals in her urine at that time. The 14 day antibiotics cleared it all up. Good luck
Is she getting enough fresh water? Check her intake and see if that makes a difference.

She's getting plenty of fresh water, that's why i'm wondering why it's so concentrated. I'll find out more tomorrow when we go to the vets.
How concentrated does urine have to be to be considered UTI? New to this as well..
We went to the vets this morning and Noelle has a UTI and the vet put her on Baytril. Thank you everyone for keeping Noelle in your prayers.
Debbie, I hope the meds have Noelle feeling better in no time. Give that girl a hug for us.
Thanks for the update, Debbie. Hopefully the meds will take care of it quickly and she'll be feeling better very soon. Hugs to you both! :grouphug:
So glad you found out what it was and now she can get better!! Good Luck!!
Hope your dog gets better! I'll pray for her as well
Oh, Deb, I'm just seeing this post. Glad you caught it early. Poor baby Noelle -- I'm sending prayers, positive energy and hugs.

On another subject -- did you ever cut Riley down or did you decide to leave him long? Haven't seen pictures.

Noelle -- please feel better soon.

Thank you Lynn. I had to take Noelle to the vet today so i didn't take Riley to get his hair cut off, i also sort of chickened out. I did post some individual posts of the kids today and last week.

How are you feeling and how's Jerry? :grouphug:
