Can I just say that I am SO very impressed how quick that comfortis works! WHen I combed her last night there was not one flea on her! I'm so relieved for her! I still haven't seen any fleas in the house (on me or the kids and I told them to tell me if they saw one) but I'm (obviously) not trusting that because it makes sense that they would not always stay on the dog. So we're still planning to treat the house and yard (front and back and the concrete part of the dog run just in case!).
Thanks everyone for the help. :) I was very excited and couldn't wait to get on here and tell you guys. The battle is one step closer to being won! lol

And btw, I am a lifetime customer of comfortis now!! Can you only get it by prescription from the vet or is it something I can buy from a pet store?
Too cool!! Let's hope they stay gone! :D
Oh...it's on. I will NOT have my house infested by fleas. I have too many animals and too many kids to worry about that. Plus...who wants fleas in their house? lol
Oh...it's on.
lol! Bad news for those fleas! The gauntlet has been thrown down. :w00t:

I recently had little gnats in my apartment and no pesticide would kill them. I guess I should add that I can only use organic and things of the sort because my boyfriend's trying to grow tomatoes organically.... in our apartment... :( so no pesticides would kill them and they were EVERYWHERE... so I just went outside and found some tiny spiders... and now they're gone! :chili: Take that!!
yeah, I'm not a chemical person. I DID however use frontline because we have tick out here (not for long!! lol) and I'd rather them have a chemical on them than lyme disease or tick bites everywhere on them. Same with the comfortis.

And yes, the gauntlet has been thrown down...lol
oh, and btw, I get gnats when I buy bananas...like EVERY time almost.Once they start turning color (we buy them green on the tips) they start coming around (and luckily they don't usually last that long in my house). I think they come in on the fruit. So I put them in the fridge and make banana bread once they turn all brown ;)
ANyway, put white vinegar in a cup next to where they seem to be. That works! I've also left a bit of wine in a glass and they drink, get drunk, and fall in! It's awesome.

But to stop an infestation, just stop bringing fruit into the house for a couple weeks and start over (or keep it in the fridge) and they will have nothing to feed on.
I'm going to be trying that vinegar idea when/if they come back! :D

Mine are hatching out of the plants. :( My boyfriend loves to grow things. We have a grow tent and a hydroponics system. and no, we are not growing anything bad! lol everyone always raises their eyebrow at me when I tell them that. but we have two giant tomato bushes, two pepper plants, gogi babies, cacti, and my houseplants. Somehow they got here and now lay eggs in the soil. I'm thinking they may have come from the organic soil. but so far, the spiders are keeping them down. I haven't seen any in a week or two.
YAY Vi! I'm thinking about Comforis myself. It sounds like a great product from everything I've been reading on SM. Aolani's vet visit is in a couple of weeks and I will ask my vet about it and what he would recommend for heartworm.
Good to hear. I picked up some from the Vet, but haven't used it yet. I have never had a dog with fleas and still don't, so I am leary about using it at all unneccessarily.
I'm glad it is working for you. It is a prescription product so you need to get it from your vet.

omagosh, I do hydroponics too!! I know what you mean about everyone assuming you're growing something else LOL I get the same raised eye brows!! I JUSt built a lettuce DWC with a bubble stone, haven't set it up yet. I have two tomatoe plants, a melon plant and two lemon cucumber plants. The growth is slow, idk what I'm doing wrong lol.

Good to know, thanks! It's not a big deal, I'm just cheap so if I can save a vet trip I will LOL but I can probably call her up and ask her to have it for me up front because she's a friend of mine (and I got it like that ;) lol) She;s on a mission trip right now, so I didn't get to see her this time and I didn't think to ask if it's a perscription.
(and for the record I ALWAYS take my pets if they NEED to go!)
I use the comfortis on our yorkie but I haven't used it on Coconut because she is only 3.8 lbs and have been afraid too. It says they have to be 5 lbs and over. The vet are charging soooo much for it. My step mom gets it for cost for me from the vet she works at and I think I paid $38.00 for a 6 month supply when they are selling it for $80!!!
Seriously!? Mine was $13 for the 20 lb 1 month dose, she said I could beak it in half because she is only 9.5 lb (lol yes I say only, knowing she's over the standard LOL) and it would be cheaper for me because it'll last me 2 months.
But I'll tell you what... trying to give Vi a pill was NOT easy LOL Took me 4 tries before she took it!
I have thought you could buy the larger dose and half it but the vets here won't let people do that. I'm a groomer and I actually give alot of them their Comfortis because they give their moms such a hard time! LOL

Well, like I said, she's a friend of mine, and that's how I roll ;) lol Seriously tho, idk about that, I've only ever used her (here in OKlahoma anyway) and I didn't know you had to buy them in bulk like that. Maybe she just made an exception for me because she knows my situation (hubby was laid off for a long time and we almost lost out house :/ ). She's an amazing person. I just love her :) She's in Africa right now on a mission trip! I'm so envious of her! lol
Some of the vets here let you buy one pill at a time and they charged me $15.00 for the 5-10 lbs one! I'm sooo glad it is working for you though!! Fleas really freak me out LOL!!!
I hate the ticks. That's what I'm afraid of for when august comes around and they come back out again. I'll have to check her every time before she comes in the house because the DOWN side to comfortis is that it doesn't work on ticks :( But at least ticks are bigger and slower so they're easier to get off!
Oh wait!! No I wont!! Because I wont HAVE ticks in my yard in August!! Thank you Lord for DE lol Kills EVERYTHING in the yard!!!
*happy dance*
