Hi everyone, I don't post often but I do pop in and read. I wanted to post this as a warning about fish ponds, I'm sharing this with others whom have small dogs. It's very sad.
Sidney, a member on Yorkiefun forum that I belong to lost her beloved Pepper. He drowned in her fish pond. I got permission to crosspost this so that others can be aware. I think we recently talked about this danger on Yorkietalk. It's so sad, it just breaks my heart. Please take the time to also read the beautiful tribute done by another forum member. It's the rainbow bridge poem with Pepper's sweet picture. She did a wonderful job in creating it and it puts a face to this terrible tragedy. Rest well little Pepper. You Mommy loved you.

Sidney's post informing us of her terrible loss...
“My little Pepper drowned this morning in my fish pond. I'm in so much shock. I'll tell more later. I'm having a hard time.”

The following is a beautiful memorial to Pepper created by another forum member

“In loving memory of Pepper”

links aren't working for me.

This is one reason I insisted on Sir N learning how to swim. We lived near a river back then and I was afraid of him drowning.

Thats weird, I wish the links would work. If you have a chance, you can go to yorkiefun.com to read it. It's just something worth cautioning everyone about. We had just had a thread on the risk on another yorkie forum last week. It must be a fairly common problem and happens more than you would think. I knew a lady years ago whose little yorkie drowned in their swimming pool. Also those of you whom are old members of MO may know that Jay lost 2 malts in his swimming pool years ago. Just keep an eye on your little ones..it's just not worth risking.

Beastie has a PFD - personal flotation device, that goes on him when we are around water. The size is xtra small. He's still not too fond of it, but it sure beats the alternatives. How sad!

In Loving Memory of Pepper

I tried reading it but I started to tear up.
It's hard to imagine this happening to something so precious. Much
to Sidney.

Thanks for the warning on life jackets! I got one for Sir N years ago, but he has never worn it. I'm going to toss it!
(or maybe give it to the vet)
