So I live in BC, Canada. We have the best outdoor life, and that is where I spend my time hiking, flying, climbing or just hanging out.... What do you guys like to do in your city/town? Is there a theme? Is there something you would like to do?
My area is located right on the Gulf of Mexico. It has changed so much in the last 10 years because of casinos. We have 12 very large casinos and a Hard Rock Casino and hotel is opening Labor Day weekend. Casinos have brought a lot more people and money to the Coast, but also more traffic and congestion. Our beautiful beaches are great, but the water isn't so nice. There is lots of golf and tennis and boating here and my family enjoys all of that. I like the slow pace of living yet the shopping here is not so good. We are half way between Mobile, AL and New Orleans, so in an hour I can be in a bigger city. We do have fantastic seafood restaurants on the Coast. This is a good place to live, but sometimes I feel like it is about 20 years behind the rest of the country.
Well I do alot of things with my kids....I coach soccer and t-ball. I love sports so we go to alot of the highschool football games and such. I like to play golf. Just got new clubs for my birthday their pink lol. My kids are takinglessons so I am sure we will play as a family a lot more in the future.
I like to chill by the pool. I love to have salon days, get my nails done, get a pedicure and such.
I love beauty pageants and like to go watch my nieces compete. I also like to sew. and I like to do some cake decorating. and I love to read.
But my overall favorite hobby is SHOPPING.
I love to shop anywhere and everywhere from flea markets to huge malls. I like to shop to buy and I like shopping to just look.
I live in Seattle and grew up with a family that owned a boat. So I did that a lot, but these days since I've been living on my own I don't do that nearly as much. I really enjoy cooking and exploring new foods. I also really enjoy music, especially country (western) so I spend quite a bit of time discovering new songs and artists, as well as rediscovering old favorites.
We live in Saratoga Springs, which is the summer home of the New York City Ballet. My husband is a former classical ballet dancer and now a ballet master, so ballet is a huge part of our lives. We have been going to the ballet for the season--and tomorrow are headed to see the Bolshoi Ballet from Russia perform at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC.
A friend of mine got me into cake decorating.....believe it or not it is a great stress reliever. We laugh our butts off every time we do a new design because we invariably mess something up. I also love to bake and decorate fancy cookies. I do teapot shapes, Christmas shapes (Santa, Snowmen, Reindeer, Stars) Easter shapes (bunnies, Peter Rabbit, chicks, eggs--I go CRAZY with the egg decorating--lambs) I did some snails, butterflies, ladybugs and dragonflies for a garage sale recently. I wondered why they weren't selling very well until someone asked if they were decorative magnets!
My friend and I did 38 teapots for a baby shower and put 14 man-hours into them! For her mother's 84th birthday recently we did a huge 5 inch tall sheet cake with hot pink and orange basketweave around the sides and royal icing daisies on the top. We had spent almost 3 hours just decorating it and she was putting on the final touch, a bow around the stems of the bouquet, and suddenly she got real quiet and still and when I looked over at her her shoulders were slumped and she was just standing there staring at the cake holding the icing bag.
When I walked over to see what was wrong I saw a big blob of icing that looked like a tangle of spaghetti and I just burst out laughing! She told me later she was thinking "I wonder if the bakery can make a cake by tomorrow afternoon"! She finally saw the humor, too and we both just got hysterical over the mess she made after all that work. We just scraped the tangled mess off and found out that I am better at bows so the cake turned out just beautiful.
I use to be in Telecom and traveled a lot so I am reveling in domesticity. I took up needlepoint to have something to do while flying until 9/11 and then I couldn't take needles or my little scissors on the plane but I still do the needlepoint. I love to putz with my container garden and sew. I am saving for a dress form that I can customize to my particular shape, which is no longer an off the rack one size.
I also sew pillows, curtains, place mats, etc. Home decor stuff. I'm not very prolific because I have to be in the mood. Right now I am learning upholstery by reupholstering a couple of office arm chairs. I've gotten as far as taking off the old upholstery and the fabric I ordered just came in so when the mood strikes, I'll get going on that.
Of course I can only do all this when Pico is NOT on my lap!
I like to sew. I have made lots of coats and t-shirts, for the girls. I have a pattern for pj's and vest. But have not looked for material yet.
If anyone wants patterns, I will share.. Just email me.
I stay at home ( on the farm ) So i do lots of cooking, and play taxi for the men...
In the fall you will not see much of me.. THat is our busy time and i cook for 5 men. Noon and supper and i take it to the fields. The men call it moms meals on wheels
You know how much the farmer like to eat..
My girl friends all like to go the coffee shop in ames.. They have the best coffee..
