I'll be in South Beach parting the night away! It's so much fun there...expensive but fun. I got free tickets to a club called State so that's where I'll be. Thankfully my bf lives in South Beach so we don't have to drive anywhere. We just drink and take a cab home.

Be carefull all. I always get so worried about New Years and all the drunk drivers.

New Years eve morning we're picking up our new little Sassy! Can't wait. On NYE night we are going out to dinner with a group of friends to a little Italian restaurant that is having a special NYE feast with something like 12 courses. Yeah, I really need that! My parents are going to come over and sit with the dogs till our dinner is over with. We have been married 26 1/2 years and I'll bet we've only gone out 4 or 5 times (before kids). We aren't big on being out with the drunkies. One daughter will be out of town to her BF's home and the other will be with her BF at one of the casinos. Have a great and safe time everyone.

New Years Eve is not one of my fav times. I never have fun going out on New Years becasue I am so worried about getting home and drunk drivers and such...so I am decided to stay home this year. I usually just go along with whatever my group of friends is doing but I am old enough to lay down the law and just tell them no!
Last year I kept kids b/c there is big money on days like that but I was there from 8pm till 6am so I don't want to leave bella for that long.
So for me it will be movies and pj's. I am excited!!!

On New Year's Day we are driving with the kids to Nashville and finishing some shopping for hubby's family and letting the kids spend some ToysRus gift cards. Then we are dropping them at my sister in laws and meeting two other couples for dinner (Hopefully at Joe's Crab Shack
) and then going to Zanies, a comedy club. We all got hotel rooms close to the comedy club for the night. I also don't like to drive on New Year's Eve. The next morning we are going to get up and eat breakfast and then drive back to my sister in law's house. We are going to exchange Christmas with them, eat supper and then drive back home. I am SO looking forward to it since I have been cooped up in this house for almost two weeks with only a trip or two to church and Walmart!!!
That is SO not like me!!! It is about to get to me!!! Ha Ha....I am going absolutely stir crazy!!!!
Anyway, this is our last big "hoo-raw" for awhile because we must pay off some MAJOR bills!!! I hate debt!
That is my New Year's Resolution though...is to be SERIOUS about paying stuff off...(the transmission thing really put a kink in those plans! -_- )
Anyway, whatever you all choose to do on New Year's...please be safe and careful.

We don't have any plans yet, but I'm super excited because I don't have to work this weekend, so I can stay up super late and sleep in the next day!!!!!!!! It will be great to actually spend some time with DH! We might just have a little get together here with champagne and goodies and watch the ball drop on TV.

tlunn - I totally know what you mean about trying to get out of debt. We are battling student loans right now and that's our new year's resolution! I highly highly recommend Dave Ramsey's book "The Total Money Makeover".. he will get you so pumped to pay things off! His book is amazing and has tons of inspirational stories to keep you motivated.

Tlunn,
How far are you from Nashville? My daughter graduated from Vanderbilt and really misses Nashville. The kids at Vandy call it NashVegas. I used to love to visit when she was in school. You're lucky.

I haven't read that one, but I have read Financial Peace. We know WHAT to do, it is just buckling down and tightening the belt to do it-AND STICK WITH IT!!! Our debt is our own fault...now we have to pay the consequences for a few years and dig out. We can do it...just takes some sacrificing.

We are about 2 and half hours from Nashville. My husband grew up just north of there in Goodlettsville and White House. I like the area alot. Maybe some day we will move there. Vandy is a great school! Your daughter is lucky to have been able to get such a wonderful edcuation!!!! I hope my kids can go there some day!!!What does she do? Or what was her degree in? Where are you? I get the feeling from some of the things that you have said, that you are not TOO far from there yourself....maybe you have said sometime and I have missed it...

That is one of my very FEW nights to do this myself!!! Hubby and I don't get away as "adults" alone very often. The bad thing is that my bed time is usually so early...and with a drink or two in me...it will be hard for me to not sit through the comedy show without yawning

Tlunn,
We're on the Mississippi Gulf Coast so its about 7-8 hours from Nashville (depending on who is driving!). Our daughter finished at Vandy in 3 years with a degree in Spanish and is taking this year off to finish a couple of prerequisites for Dental School. She wants to follow in her Dad's footsteps. She's got one interview and she's hoping for at least one more. Vandy is a great school, but highly competitive, and she really needed a break year before Grad school. She took a couple of science classes last semester and has an apt in Hattiesburg at Univ. of Southern Miss. She only needs one more prereq that she'll get this coming semester but will also audit a couple of other science classes. While concentrating on the Spanish she had been away from science for awhile and this has been a good opportunity for her to refresh on all of that. She's the one that we originally got Sadie for. She and I are still going to have to fight it out over which dog goes with her and which stays here with me. We're waiting until we get Sassy on Friday before we worry about it. LOL

Not on the gulf. Looked at a house on the gulf, but decided that Hwy 90 would be too dangerous if Jolie (and now Sadie and Sassy) got out by mistake. Instead we live on the bayou. Its nice to see water instead of houses when I look out the window but much cheaper than the gulf, and a lot less costly insurance!
