So cute! I've used the small terry cloth bands made for toddlers or little kids. They don't damage or pull his hair, but the tradeoff is that they can come loose if your dog rubs his head on something or is really active, and I end up re-tying it a few times a day. So much faster and easier than the latex ones, though. Goody brand makes them in various colors.

 

I have used the terry cloth bands for a single-topknot "hairdo," twisting each one double. I think they looked cute. But I never tried them for a two-topknot style.

The set I bought quite a few years ago also came with vinyl bands in different colors.

You can also buy them at Target in the baby section. they work great. Much better than the rubber-band ones.

I typically buy relatively thin yards of elastic, and just cut it to the size I want, and then tie a knot at the top. I have some 'fancier' ones, but mine aren't really a fan of having clips in their hair,so that's what I generally use. I get mine on etsy if that helps.
